Who we are

Moonrise Forest began with a simple belief: that a piece of land, when cared for with intention, can nourish both people and nature. Nestled among the lakes, wetlands, and winding backroads of Rideau Lakes, Ontario, our forest farm is the result of years of dreaming, restoring, and working with the landscape rather than against it.

Rooted in the Forest

Long before Moonrise Forest had a name, it had trees—towering pines, weathered maples, young saplings pushing into the light. We were drawn to this place for its quiet resilience. Over time, we learned the rhythms of the forest: when the light shifted, when the soil softened, when a stand of trees was ready for selective harvest.

From these rhythms grew our dedication to sustainable forestry. Every log we mill and every piece of lumber we sell begins with a mindful approach—harvesting only what the forest can give, and stewarding the land so it remains healthy for generations to come. Our milled lumber and handcrafted wood products reflect not just the character of the trees they come from, but the care that shapes them.

Where Wood and Wildflowers Meet

As we worked the land, we discovered that the open clearings and sunny patches held their own potential. What started as a few flower beds quickly grew into a full cut-flower garden, bursting with seasonal colour.

Today, the garden is a place of both productivity and peace—rows of blooms for market bouquets, weddings and events, and joyful you-pick days where visitors can create their own connection to the land.

The flowers and the forest might seem like unlikely companions, but to us, they belong together. The garden brings softness and colour; the forest brings strength and grounding. Together, they represent the balance we strive for—beauty supported by ecology, creativity supported by stewardship.

Craft, Community, and Connection

Moonrise Forest is more than a working farm—it’s a place where people gather, learn, and reconnect with nature. Whether you come for a bundle of fresh lumber, a bouquet of dahlias, or a quiet walk with clippers in hand, we hope the experience feels rooted, restorative, and real.

Everything we do is guided by a deep appreciation for this land and a desire to share its gifts. Our work is slow and thoughtful: milling wood that will become someone’s home project, tending blooms that will brighten a celebration, cultivating a space where community and nature meet.

Looking Forward

As Moonrise Forest grows, our vision remains grounded in the principles that started it all:
• Care for the land
• Respect for natural cycles
• Craftsmanship that honours the materials
• Open doors for our community

We’re excited to continue expanding our offerings—whether that’s new wood products, seasonal workshops, or more opportunities for visitors to explore the forest and fields.

Thank you for being a part of our story. We can’t wait to welcome you to Moonrise Forest.
